Becoming a Participating Municipality
Today the Long Island North Shore Heritage Area is an independent not for profit organization approved to provide resources and foster collaboration within the region. Both Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as well as eight towns and 29 municipalities have endorsed the Management Plan. (See the list below.)
If your village is not yet a Participating Municipality, check that your village is included within the Boundary Area. If so, the procedure for becoming a Participating Municipality is relatively simple. Please refer to the “LINSHA Guidelines for Adding Municipalities,” in the By-Laws & Policies section of the website. Included there is a sample municipal resolution for your village to use in approving the Management Plan.
